Summary:
In this text the author is trying to tell us some of his views of the language learner. Nowadays, English became the most popular language among the people who want to learn a second language or additional language. Some researchers did researches on those second language learners who learn their first and second language in at least some years' long different. The researchers’ goal is to explain how the second language learners learn their 2nd language. Now they have some different ideas of if the learners in different age learn language in the similar way. The differences between individual learners are the degree of ultimate success which they achieve. There are many factors which affect the learners' learning. Intelligence, language aptitude and language learning strategies are the cognitive factors. The affective factors are language attitudes, motivation and language anxiety. (Mitchell & Myles, pp.17-20)
Personal Response:
I agree to what the author said in this part of text. But I have something to add about the effective factors of learning second language. In my opinion, the learning environment is another important factor. It may have positive effects on learners’ learning if they learn in a country whose official language is their target language. After reading this text, I know the factors of learning language. I know which part of learning English I should try to improve. For example, set a correct and positive motivation of learning English.
